Balcony Connections is a single mixed-media collage created during the COVID-19 pandemic, honoring the ways people found connection during isolation. Inspired by scenes of neighbors singing, speaking, and sharing music from balconies around the world, the building in this image is constructed from sheet music. A quote by Herman Melville—“We cannot live only for ourselves…”—is woven into the piece, reinforcing the enduring threads that bind us together, even when physically apart.
